Sourdough Waffles

RECIPE DETAILS

150 g Sourdough Starter (spent or levain made the night before)

1 cup Milk or Buttermilk

3 Tbsp  Highwood Crossing Organic Canola Oil or melted butter

1 egg

1/2 cup  Highwood Crossing Unbleached All-Purpose Flour

1/2 cup  Highwood Crossing Red Fife, Whole Wheat or Whole Wheat Pastry Flour

1 Tbsp  sugar

2 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt


Preheat waffle iron. Lightly grease the waffle iron with oil on a brush or cooking spray.


Mix the liquid ingredients well, then add dry ingredients. If batter seems too thick add more milk to thin.


Ladle about 1 cup of the batter into the waffle iron and cook for about 4 minutes. This amount and time MAY NEED to be adjusted given your waffle iron. Check the instructions in the manual.
